Superfruit: Future Friends: Part One

Superfruit, comprised of Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, or 2/5 of Grammy-winning a capella group Pentatonix, released the duo's dance pop inspired debut EP Future Friends: Part One. I honestly wasn't expecting to like this album, I'm not huge fan on Pentatonix, however the influences of the group's work is minimal in the album.

The EP opens with a track entitled "Imaginary Parties", which starts off the album with a bang, highlighting Grassi's ridiculous vocals. "Bad 4 Us", which served as the single from Future Friends, is once again a stellar track, showcasing both members vocal abilities nicely. "Worth It (Perfect)" is probably my favorite track from the album, closely followed by the next track "Vacation", both of the tracks have a very dance-pop feel compared to the first two tracks, while still having thought out lyrics and beautiful vocal performance.

"Sexy Ladies", lyrically was not what I was expecting, however it is a standout track, a female empowerment anthem, met with a song about partying with single people; this track was another one of my favorites. "Heartthrob" once again is a change of tempo from the rest of the album, opening with a rap verse from Grassi, which picks up into a 90's inspired dance track, about 90's heartthrobs. The album closes with the title track "Future Friends", which continued the 90's inspired tracks, and brings the album to a beautiful close, and ties the album together well.

Superfruit's Future Friends: Part Two is scheduled to be released on September 15th, 2017.
